The Treadmill Test (TMT), also known as a Cardiac Stress Test or Exercise Tolerance Test (ETT), is a diagnostic procedure used to determine how well your heart responds to physical stress or exercise.
While a standard ECG measures your heart's electrical activity at rest, many heart problems only become apparent when the heart is working its hardest. During a TMT, you walk on a treadmill while your heart rate, blood pressure, and ECG (electrocardiogram) are continuously monitored as the speed and incline gradually increase.
